Michael is a follower of Christ and married to Alice the wife of his youth.  Michael and Alice are high school sweethearts, married 25 years ago, experiencing mountain peak climbs and sobering stumbles, all while God blessed them with two boys, Jesse 20, and Vance 18.  Michael and Alice have the joy and privilege of preparing their boys for now and eternity.  During their downtime, Alice and Michael enjoy spending time with their Granddaughter Mia Grace who just turned 2.  They incorporate time to work out in their garage, hike Linville Gorge, and work in the yard on various projects. Michael has worked in the fire service for 30 years serving, teaching, and encouraging people.  His passion is to share knowledge and skills experienced through real life.  Alice and Michael came to Pursuit in 2018 drawn to the real people, unveiling their real lives, all while experiencing the freedom and love of Christ!  They are excited about what God is doing at Pursuit Church, pointing to Christ and His Unfailing Love!  Alice and Michael currently host a small group bible study in their home allowing God’s word to minister to those serving people in their worst days.  With such kindness and love, God has taught Michael and Alice to show no condemnation, to be quiet, and to be still.

Growing up in Michigan, I did not have a relationship with Jesus. My life changed ten years ago during a flight, when I found my Savior. Since then, I have been blessed with a loving and supportive wife, my best friend Jordan, also known as JP. Together, we have three wonderful grown sons: Ryker, Peyton, Liam, and our eight-year-old son James.

For the past 17 years, I have been dedicated as a high school science teacher at North Lincoln High School. In addition to teaching, I have had the privilege of serving as an assistant football coach, a role that has allowed me to mentor and inspire student-athletes. My passion for guiding and supporting students extends beyond the classroom and the field, as I have also been actively involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Knights for Christ, two groups that nurture spiritual growth and community among students.

Recently, I have joined in participation with the Stephen Ministry team, providing compassionate care and support to those in need. I also contribute as a Sunday morning usher along with helping out with our church’s social media team.

One of my greatest joys is witnessing the transformative work of God in men’s ministry at Pursuit. I fondly recall when our group consisted of just eight men meeting in a children’s church classroom. The deep friendships and profound healing that have emerged from these gatherings fill me with hope and excitement for the future.

My journey of faith and service is a testament to the incredible impact of God’s work in our lives. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had to grow, serve, and share in this journey with others at Pursuit Church.
