Did You Know…? There are many children that currently the only meals they eat are the ones they get at school. Kids are returning to school on Monday with bellyaches because they have not eaten since Friday? The Backpack Ministry helps children get the nutritious and easy-to-prepare food. This ensures they can get enough to eat on the weekends and during school breaks. The Backpack Ministry currently helps 10 students at St. James Elementary that qualify for the program and supplies items needed at Asbury Academy. Extra food is sent home for the long weekends and the holiday breaks. On a regular weekend, the ministry sends home 60 cans of food, 40 packets of oatmeal & 40 “extra” items. Imagine how much food is sent home to the 10 students over a 10 day or a 2 week break. For more information or a list of items that are collected or more information on how you can become more involved, please contact April Tucker.
Hope for Hungry Kids
is a nonprofit organization that was founded in 2013 to provide funds for the food budget for Jyothi’s Home for Children, an orphanage in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, India. The orphanage was founded in 1997 by Jyothi Kumar Reddi and currently houses 500 children. He receives no funding through his country and relies on generous donation from friends, churches and other organizations.
There are several ways that you can help this organization. One way to help support Hope for Hungry Kids is through child sponsorship. By sponsoring a child you help in providing supplies, clothing and much needed care for the many orphans currently at Jyothi’s Home for Children. A child can be sponsored for $30.00 a month. Another way you can help is make a one-time gift donation.
Each year we also host a HFHK Golf tournament (4-man Captain’s Choice) in April or May. All the funds raised for this event will go to supporting the orphanage in India.
Each and every donation is greatly appreciated and feeding these children would be impossible without these generous donations. For more information on these programs with Hope for Hungry Kids or ways you can become involved, please contact Jamey Green.

What is Love Denver? Love Denver is a multi-church sponsored, back to school themed, community medical clinic with a mission to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the needy through the Gospel and Name of Jesus. This event is held each year in August. Pursuit Church prepares the pack backs that are handed out at this event. Pursuit Church also has a prayer tent. Each family will be prayed for before receiving a back pack. We will take donations of specific school items (list will be provided) starting in July. In addition to preparing back packs, there are several areas of Love Denver that you can sign up and be a part of. The most urgent area that is in need of volunteers each year is that of Guide. Guides are the heart and soul of this event. Guides are hands on helpers that will greet families at registration, and lovingly lead them through the event, providing a measure of personalized ministry and hospitality to each guest. There are several other areas that you can volunteer for: Set-up and infrastructure and also hairstylist.
For more information on Love Denver and how you can get involved, please contact Melissa Pratt.

Pregnancy Care Center
The Pregnancy Care center exists to assist women to carry to term by providing emotional support and practical assistance. Through God’s people and the community at large, women can face the future with hope and plan constructively for themselves and their babies.
There are several ways that you can become involved to help the Pregnancy Care Center succeed in their mission. Through the “Baby Bottle Boomerang” fundraiser which is held at the end of April. Take a specially labeled baby bottle – fill a bottle with change and change a life.
The other way is the Annual Pregnancy Care Center Walk 4 Life Event. This is a fun family-friendly 2 mile walk, a 5k Trail Run and a Motorcycle Ride that is held at the Denver Baptist Church – West Campus in September. Fundraising for this event starts in August.
All the money raised is given to the Pregnancy Care Center. For more information on how you can become involved, please contact Niki Jeffcoat.
Room in the Inn
Room in the Inn is held each year from December thru March as these are some of the coldest times of the year. This is an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to the homeless “neighbors” from Urban Ministry. Room in the Inn is held the 1st and 3rd Friday and Saturday of the month here at the church. We provide our neighbors a safe place to enjoy a warm meal, a hot shower, a time to hear God’s Word, time of fellowship with the RITI volunteers and a comfortable bed to sleep in. On Saturday mornings, our neighbors will enjoy a warm breakfast and more fellowship time before going back to Urban Ministry. There are so many areas to volunteer at with Room in the Inn from the Food Team, Set-up/Tear-down Team, Laundry, Security (day and overnight), Van Drivers and Ride Along. For more information about Room in the Inn and how to become involved, please contact Denise Elliott.
